Sightline

sīt-līnN.light first. subject second. restraint always.

Sightline is the part of the site that governs how photographs are captured, edited, and kept. The method stays fixed. The values move with the light.

Why

A photograph is not improved by looking more edited. It is improved by holding onto what made it worth taking. Light decides that first. The edit either protects it or gets in the way.

Sequence

Capture comes first. Get the light, angle, and exposure right in camera. File choice follows. HEIC is the daily default. ProRAW is the deliberate upgrade when the light is difficult, the subject matters, or the file needs more latitude than HEIC can give cleanly.

Then the file gets built in order. Exposure sets the base. Highlights and shadows shape the tonal range. Black point anchors the floor. Warmth and vibrance define the character. Sharpness, definition, and contrast come last because they are the easiest to overstate.

Bias

I do not want edits that announce themselves. I do not want clarity that turns into glare, color that feels added, or contrast that mistakes pressure for depth. If the edit is the first thing you notice, it went too far.

Vignette starts at zero. If it earns its place, it stays. If the frame needs it to feel complete, the composition probably needed more attention.
