Atlas is built from individual destination pages. About, Now, Start here, and Colophon are static pages written and updated directly.
What is generated is generated before deploy, not at request time. Search index, RSS, OG images, and supporting build output are all produced ahead of time. The live site stays simple because the work is done before it goes up.
What is curated stays manual. Start here is handpicked. Cross-links are placed by hand. Archive relationships are editorial decisions, not recommendation logic.
Archive is what survives a second look.
Typography stays quiet. Display type carries headings. Body type is chosen for legibility before distinction. Spacing is kept open so reading stays primary.
Search is local, lightweight, and built from the archive itself. It favors exact titles, strong phrase matches, and real place signals over loose coincidence.
Atlas is the exception to the hash-routed archive. Each destination stands on its own page, which keeps travel entries easier to structure, link, and share.
The system is simple on purpose. Fewer moving parts. Fewer dependencies. More control over what stays in and what stays out.
